The Lánzate LGBTI+ Association is preparing to launch the third edition of La Tapa Orgullosa, a month-long culinary competition and food trail taking place across Arrecife from August 1 to 30, 2026.

After the success of last year’s event, which attracted strong support from both local businesses and diners, organisers hope to establish La Tapa Orgullosa as one of Arrecife’s standout summer events, combining gastronomy with a message of inclusion and social awareness.

Restaurants, bars and cafés across the capital are being invited to create a special tapa or pincho inspired by values of diversity and inclusion. Entries can reflect the theme through their name, ingredients, presentation or overall concept, provided they promote respect and creativity.

The initiative forms part of Lánzate 365, a social programme supported by the Canarian Government. The wider project aims to promote equality, increase the visibility of the LGBTI+ community, and help prevent discrimination and hate crimes through community engagement.

Lánzate expects even greater participation from both hospitality businesses and the public this year, with the event encouraging residents and visitors to explore Arrecife while sampling the specially created dishes.

Nahum Cabrera, manager of the Lánzate LGBTI+ Association, said the initiative shows that “the defence of diversity can also be built through everyday, familiar and shared spaces. Sitting around a table, discovering a culinary creation and talking together encourages understanding, coexistence and respect.”

Hospitality businesses wishing to take part have until Sunday, July 19 to register and review the competition rules via the Lánzate website:
