Rancho Texas has unveiled two significant new additions, combining a tribute to one of its most recognisable personalities with a new historical feature celebrating the Canary Islands’ connection to Texas.

During a special event held last Friday, the park revealed a sculpture honouring Carlos Cabrera, better known as “Buffalo”, who has been a central figure in Rancho Texas’s popular Country Nights for the past three decades.

Known for his warm personality and unmistakable presence, Buffalo has become an integral part of the evening entertainment, leaving a lasting impression on generations of visitors and helping to shape the unique atmosphere that has made the Country Nights a longstanding attraction.

The occasion also marked the unveiling of the redesigned façade of El Álamo, created as part of the park’s ongoing Historical Classroom project. The new installation recreates the façade of the historic Mission San Antonio de Valero which was originally established by Spanish missionaries before becoming one of the most famous landmarks in Texas.

Speaking at the unveiling, Rancho Texas director Nicolás López highlighted the historical links between the Canary Islands and the founding of San Antonio.

“We are unveiling the recreation of the façade of El Álamo in San Antonio de Valero, the first structure built by the Spanish missions that arrived there. Later, the Canarians participated in the founding of what would become the civilian settlement. Our people from Lanzarote, who overcame hardship at La Geria, once again showed remarkable courage by facing famine and setting out for the Americas.”

The Historical Classroom project aims to educate visitors about the important role played by Canary Islanders in the establishment of San Antonio, reinforcing the shared heritage between the islands and the American city.

With both the Buffalo tribute and the new Alamo façade, Rancho Texas continues to expand its attractions while promoting local history, cultural heritage and education alongside its family entertainment offering.
