A British man is scheduled to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court in October after being accused of assaulting a woman at London Gatwick Airport following a flight from Lanzarote.

Gavin Penn, 48, from Brentwood, Essex, is alleged to have been involved in the incident on 8 January this year after arriving on a TUI flight from Lanzarote to the UK.

According to reports in the Southend Echo, Penn admitted that he had been intoxicated during the flight. However, he denied a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm against a woman at Gatwick Airport.

As the charge has been contested, the case is expected to proceed to trial in October.

The report did not provide further details about the circumstances of the alleged assault or the injuries involved.
