Arrecife Ayuntamiento has completed repair work on the seafront promenade along Playa El Reducto following damage caused by Storm Therese earlier this year.

At the end of March, powerful waves generated by the storm caused significant damage along several coastal areas in the Canary Islands, including parts of Arrecife’s shoreline. Near Punta del Camello, sections of the promenade were badly affected, with paving stones lifted and part of the breakwater and volcanic stone wall destroyed.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, municipal crews were deployed to recover damaged paving and volcanic stone materials so they could later be reused during reconstruction work.

Arrecife Ayuntamiento made the restoration of the affected public spaces a priority, assigning teams to rebuild the promenade wall and repair the walkway using the original cobblestones and volcanic stone from the existing structure.

The rehabilitation project was completed this week after approximately five weeks of work. The restored promenade has now reopened to the public, allowing residents and visitors once again to enjoy one of Arrecife’s most popular coastal walking routes, especially favoured by locals for morning exercise and seaside strolls.
