Emergency services were called into action early Monday morning after a British tourist fell from a breakwater in Puerto Calero.

The incident was reported at 7:10 a.m. to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2, prompting a rapid response from local emergency teams.

Yaiza Local Police, firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, and Canary Islands Emergency Service personnel attended the scene.

Firefighters successfully rescued the 54-year-old man from the breakwater before he was treated by medical staff. He was later taken to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital suffering from moderate multiple contusions.
