Aer Lingus has cancelled a number of flights from its summer schedule, citing “mandatory maintenance on aircraft” as the reason for the disruption.
The airline has confirmed that “a limited number” of adjustments have been made, adding that the “vast majority of customers” are being accommodated on same-day services. The schedule changes apply to approximately 2% of Aer Lingus’s overall schedule.
The move follows a report in the Sunday Independent, which claimed that “more than 500” Aer Lingus flights are being cut. According to the newspaper, flights from Dublin to several European destinations – including Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Faro and Zurich – are to be removed from the schedule on a range of dates.
The Sunday Independent also reported that services to London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh will be cancelled, with passengers rebooked onto other flights.
While the airline has not published an official list of affected destinations, schedules reported in the press do not currently include Lanzarote.
