AEMET; Spain’s weather agency, has issued a yellow weather alerts for wind and rough seas on Thursday 19th March.

The wind alert is from 3 pm tomorrow until 6 am on Friday morning at 3pm, with south-westerly gusts of up to 70 kph predicted.

The rough seas alert starts from noon tomorrow and ends at noon on Friday, with 4 to 5 metres waves from the northeast and south-westerly winds likely to cause choppy seas off the south coasts.

Yellow alerts are the lowest level of weather warning, signifying no risk to the public. However, citizens are advised to stay informed and reconsider any activities that may be adversely affected.

The southerly shift in wind direction could be seen yesterday, as arriving planes descended towards the airport over land instead of their usual sea approach. However, the predicted light rains didn’t turn up, and the St Patrick’s celebration in Puerto del Carmen had great weather.

Rain will come, however – AEMET is forecasting a 100% chance of rainfall on every one of the next five days. It won’t be heavy, it’s likely to come in short, blustery showers and there’ll be sunny intervals, too.
