Six injured in collision near Playa Blanca

Six people have been injured, two seriously, in a head-on collision on the LZ-2 main road between Yaiza and Playa Blanca.

The accident took place around 4.15 pm yesterday (Thursday 5^th March) when a car and a lorry collided. At least one other car was also involved in the incident.

Firefighters freed one person who was trapped in their vehicle, and two women, aged 70 and 72, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Two men, aged 78 and 72, and a further two women aged 58 and 30, suffered moderate injuries and were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The accident caused long delays on the main road, with many vehicles turning back and taking the side road to Playa Blanca or going via Femes.
