The National Police made a total of nine arrests during the special security operation deployed for the 2026 Arrecife Carnival, which took place between February 6th and 18th in the capital.

Of the total number of arrests, two-thirds were related to crimes against public health, mainly drug trafficking, while the rest were for other criminal acts detected in the course of preventive services.

As a result of the checks, officers issued more than 350 citations for the possession or consumption of narcotic substances and nearly thirty citations for weapons possession, in accordance with current public safety regulations.

The operation also intervened in six fights or brawls, preventing the incidents from escalating and restoring order immediately thanks to a rapid police response.
