Organisers of the Lanzarote Quemao Class competition have activated the green light, confirming that the event will take place on Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd February.

The Quemao Class is the most important surfing competition on the island, bringing international and local surfers and bodyboarders together for two days of high excitement on the legendary El Quemao break, a wave which forms directly off the coast off the northern fishing village of la Santa.

Joan Durú, the current champion, will return for the event and be joined by Brazilian surfer Lucas Chianca; Mason Barnes from the USA; Australians Noa Deaneand Russell Bierke; Koa Rothman from Hawaii and Natxo González from the Basque Country.

As usual, the event will be dedicated to the memory of David Infante, “El Fula”, who died while surfing El Quemao in 2009. A special ceremony in his honour will take place at 5.30 pm on Saturday 21st February.
