As Lanzarote enjoys a break from the rains and a return to sunshine, new figures from East Midlands Airport reveal the island is among the most sought-after destinations for travellers seeking a warm escape this February half term.

The airport expects more than 64,000 passengers to pass through its terminals during the February half term holiday, with many heading for sunnier climates.

This Friday, February 13th, one of the getaway’s busiest days with around 8,000 passengers expected, will see six flights depart for Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria. These are some of the most southerly destinations served from the airport by its three main airlines: Ryanair, Jet2 and Tui.

Mike Grimes, Director of Customer Services and Planning at East Midlands Airport, said: “We pride ourselves on providing a friendly and effortless airport experience throughout the year and that’s truer than ever for February half term when customer numbers aren’t as high as during the summer.

“We’re looking forward to providing the same experience for those choosing East Midlands Airport for their half term getaway.”
