Waiting lists for specialists down by 50% on Lanzarote

Hospital waiting lists for specialist medical consultations on Lanzarote fell by more than 50% in 2025 compared to the year before.

1,800 patients were on waiting lists for specialist consultations last year, a huge decrease from 2024, when over 4,000 patients were registered.

The biggest decreases were in ophthalmology; ear, nose and throat (ENT); obstetrics, rehabilitation, urology, and traumatology.  However, paediatrics, haematology and rheumatology saw increased waiting lists.

On the other hand, waiting lists for surgery increased slightly from 1,307 to 1,349.  While lists for heart surgery, eye surgery and ENT surgery fell, there were significant increases in list awaiting surgery for traumatology and general surgery.
