Self-employed workers (autónomos) will demonstrate on Sunday to demand an end to precarious work conditions and bureaucracy.
The Platform for Dignity of the Self-Employed will gather at Arrecife Ayuntamiento at 10 am on Sunday, November 30th, before marching to the government sub-delegation building, where a manifesto will be read out. Similar demonstrations will be taking place in many cities throughout Spain.
The demonstration will criticise “the financial, bureaucratic and social strangulation that is threatening the future of entrepreneurship in Spain.”
Among the demands of the platform are
• A review of fees that is more fairly geared towards income.
• Reduction of taxes and a more progressive tax system.
• Social guarantees such as sick leave, retirement, and maternity/paternity benefits, comparable to those of salaried employees.
• The immediate approval of VAT exemption for invoicing under €85,000 euros annually, in accordance with an EU directive.
• Support for small businesses and local entrepreneurs.
• An end to red tape and administrative delays that obstruct financial assistance and timely invoicing.
