Two walkers were rescued from the cliffs of Famara in separate incidents yesterday.
In the first incident, a man was unable to continue when hiking the Camino de las Gracioseros, the rocky zig-zag path from the Playa del Risco to the Mirador de Yé. Emergency services helped him descend to the beach from where he was taken to Órzola by a jetski, then transferred to hospital.
Later, a woman called for help just before 8pm, saying she could not continue climbing the cliff near Guinate because night was falling. Firefighters located her in a disoriented and frightened state and guided her to the Mirador de Guinate, with the aid of a local who knows the area well.
