The Daily Express recently claimed that “new rules” that do not exist will affect tourists to Lanzarote.

Under the headline “Spain hits tourists with new rules in Tenerife, Lanzarote, Majorca, Benidorm”, reporter Maria Leticia Goméz described how British tourists would be affected by “new” regulations such as the six-drink limit at All Inclusive hotels, which was introduced in Balearics two years ago.

The article also mentioned tourist taxes that apply in Catalonia, and local dress codes prohibiting semi-nudity away from the seafront. Both regulations have also been in place in Catalonia for years.

However, none of these rules are currently operating in Lanzarote, Tenerife or any of the Canary Islands, nor are there any plans to introduce them.
