La Graciosa roasted yesterday as temperatures on the eighth island peaked at 38 degrees Celsius.
In Tías and Tinajo, temperatures of 36 degrees were recorded, while some schools sent children home early because of the high temperatures.
Yellow alerts for heat and calimas still apply today, when temperatures could reach the mid-30s in the morning. However, this is the first time for several days that the alert has not been renewed for the next day (Sunday).
Forecasts indicate that the weather will become cooler this evening, and the heatwave is expected to have finished by tomorrow.
