A woman will stand trial this Thursday, accused of attempting to smuggle cocaine with an estimated value of €85,000 through Lanzarote Airport.
According to a report by Canarias7, the events occurred on July 27, 2024. The accused arrived on a Vueling flight from Barcelona when customs officials intercepted her. A search of her hand luggage allegedly revealed 146 capsules containing a total of 1,441 grams of cocaine.
The seized drugs had an estimated market value of €85,891. In addition to the narcotics, officers also confiscated two mobile phones, several pieces of jewellery, and €400 in cash as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case will be heard in a Las Palmas court. Prosecutors have requested an eight-year prison sentence and a €50,000 fine for a crime against public health.
