High winds caused the cancellation of the maritime procession at Famara’s fiestas of the Sacred Heart yesterday.
The traditional procession, in which the image of the virgin is carried out to sea in a fishing boat, was cancelled due to strong winds and rough seas. However, the land-based procession carried on as usual, and the water party in the afternoon was as lively and well-attended as always.
The weekend saw strong alisio north winds throughout the island, with a maximum speed of 68 kph measured at the airport.
