This photo of two young men with a camel at Macher, taken by Joaquin Rodríguez in 1966, is just one of several new images at the Cabildo’s Memoria Digital project, which has received important collections of photographs and video in recent months, expanding an increasingly impressive archive of image of historical images of the island.
Onitze Saldías, Normando Peñate, José Antonio Barreto Pacheco, Joaquín Caraballo, José Manuel Clar García and Gran Canbaria’s Centre for Tourism Initaiticves have submuitted important video materila, while Carlos Rojano Silvera, Iris Berger, Carmen Luz Padrón Cabrera, Rob Sargent, the Martín Rosa family, Jerónimo Rodríguez, the Buches folk group, Paco Rivero and María Hiniesta Távora Triano have offered photographs to be digitalised for the archive.
The collections can be seen at memoriadelanzarote.com , a website with a fascinating range of material dating from the last century and beyond.
