Arson incident in Arrecife

A car was burnt out in Arrecife last night, culminating a weekend of small, apparently deliberate, blazes in the capital.

The burning car was reported at 11 pm on Calle Saltona, just north of the hospital in Argana Alta. Firemen arrived promptly and extinguished the flames, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.

The previous night, firemen had been called to three separate incidents of burning rubbish containers, on Calle La Ines and Calle Yagabo, where brown organic containers were completely destroyed, and on Calle Alfondso XII, where a failed attempt had been made to set light to a used clothing container.  Firemen doused the container in foam to discourage another arson attempt.
