José Valle, President of Lanzarote’s Chamber of Commerce, has delivered a report on Lanzarote’s taxi service to the Cabildo.

The report, titled “User habits and image of Lanzarote’s taxi service among residents” attempts to gather opinions of local users of taxis.

Among the main complaints of respondents are that it’s difficult to get a taxi in any municipality of the island and that there is little or no co-ordination when major events take place. The problems of getting a taxi to and from the airport are also highlighted.

Valle has been a strong advocate of a centralised taxi service and invited the taxi sector to be proactive in suggesting change. “We’re convinced that we can achieve much better results with the units we have,” he said.

Among the suggestions of the Chamber of Commerce is the digitalisation of services, especially at times and locations of peak demand.
