56-year-old woman stabbed in her home in Arrecife

A 56-year-old woman was stabbed at her home in Arrecife yesterday afternoon. Currently it is unknown whether any arrests have been made. 

The woman received wounds to the face and arms and has been rushed to the Dr. José Molina Orosa Hospital for surgical treatment.

Police sources state that the victim had previously spent time in a women’s refuge.

A protest against gender violence, organised before the incident to mark International Women’s Day, will take place in Arrecife today. Protestors will gather at the Plazuela at 11 pm and the demonstration will begin at midday.
