Last month a video surfaced online showing a bus driving recklessly on the LZ-2 heading out of Playa Blanca. This week, the Guardia Civil have identified and informed the driver, a 64-year-old man, that he is facing reckless driving charges.
The video, uploaded last month by user “playablancadigitall” showed a bus attempting to overtake on the LZ-2 near the Repsol petrol station. The manoeuvre was a little too close for comfort as the bus and a car travelling in the opposite direction came quite close to each other.
While pulling back into the lane, the bus almost forced a car off of the road, which forced the driver to hit the brakes to avoid hitting the bus.
As a result of their investigation, Guardia Civil were able to identify the 64-year-old driver who will be called to the courts in Arrecife on reckless driving charges. The crime of reckless driving can be punished with a prison sentence of six months to two years, as well as a driving ban anywhere from one to six years.
