50-year-old hang glider rescued in Haría

A 50-year-old Austrian man was rescued in Haría yesterday after his hang glider landed in an inaccessible area.

The man was stranded on Playa de la Cantería, near Órzola, parts of which are frequently cut off at high tide. The island’s High Altitude Rescue Unit was mobilised at 1.35 pm.

After paramedics attended to the victim, he was taken to the carpark in a specialised rescue stretcher before being transferred to the local health centre by ambulance.
