A rally driver and eight other people have been arrested for membership of a criminal organisation.
National Police agents arrested nine individuals aged between 30 and 55 years of age and resident on Gran Canaria and Lanzarote
Police launched “Operation Cítrico” in Lanzarote after observing the high-rolling lifestyle of a rally driver who appeared to have no visible means of support.
The investigation established that the organisation was transporting drugs between the islands using workers from logistics companies, who hid the drugs among other packages. A series of subsequent raids and searches recovered 52 kilograms of cocaine, three kilograms of amphetamines, one kilogram of methamphetamine and 15 kilograms of hashish; and more than 30,000 Euros in cash.
Several high-end vehicles, including a boat valued at €40,000 euros and a €100,000 rally car were also confiscated.
