Councils throughout Lanzarote and the Canaries have announced the cancellation of public activities, including several Halloween celebrations, as a mark of respect to the victims of the floods on mainland Spain.

A three-day period of mourning will be observed for the flooding tragedy in Valencia and other regions, which has left more than 150 dead at last count. It is felt that public celebrations of Halloween and the Day of the Dead are not appropriate in light of the disaster.

Arrecife council has announced the suspension of all Halloween-related activities, whole Teguise has cancelled the 90s concert scheduled for this evening. In Yaiza and Tinajo, some events have been postponed until the 3rd November.
