A TikToker has caused controversy online after posting a video at Las Grietas with the caption “POV: You need to leave your mark in every place you step.”
The video shows the young woman crouching down with the caption “POV [Point of View]: You need to leave your mark in every place you step”, which was followed by another comment from the user “I can’t help it. I’m like a little animal.”
However, despite the user not actually relieving herself, the video has angered locals online who call for respect of Lanzarote’s natural areas.
Earlier this month it was announced that the Cabildo will hire ten staff who will be distributed around the island in different areas to tell visitors about the “values, vulnerability and peculiarities” of the sites.
