PSOE deputy spokesman for Arrecife Ayuntamiento, Roy González, has denounced the “large number of abandoned vehicles on public roads and parking areas” in Arrecife.
“The PP and CC keeps repeating that Arrecife is the third capital of the Canary Islands as a justification for spending on parties, while the city is full of abandoned cars everywhere you walk”, González stated.
“These abandoned vehicles not only generate an image of abandonment and neglect in Arrecife, but also occupy parking areas that residents cannot use and anyone who lives or travels through Arrecife knows that there are not too many of them”, González added, who went on to warn that “the presence of abandoned cars contributes to the perception of insecurity as well as presenting a health concern. It is important to note that the abandoned vehicles can become focal points for the accumulation of rubbish and hazardous waste.”
“The management of these vehicles is the responsibility that Arrecife Ayuntamiento must assume quickly to improve the quality of life of our residents”, González stated.
