The Cabildo has stated that it is actively seeking to convert more land around Arrecife’s Dr Jose Molina Orosa Hospital into parking spaces.
Parking problems have not eased around the hospital, with the existing carparks and streets around the hospital regularly filled up. Staff have recently complained that local police officers have fined them for parking on pavements and other unauthorised spaces when no other places are available.
A 100-space parking area near the outpatient’s department will shortly be made available, but the Cabildo’s public Works councillor Jacobo Medina has said that “While this will largely solve the one of the main problems, it will not solve all accessibility and mobility problems.”
The Cabildo is currently considering three other plots close top the hospital for conversion to parking areas.
