Kenneth Vandendriessche and Anne Haug won yesterday’s Ironman Lanzarote, in which perfect conditions led to an unconfirmed course record.
The men’s race was a thriller, with the lead changing several times. However, Vandendriesche finally fought his way to the front 10 kilometres from the finishing line and came home in 8 hours 29 minutes 54 seconds, three minutes ahead of runner-up Jordi Montraveta. It’s Vandendriessche’s second Ironman title after winning the race in 2022.
Another two-time winner, Britain’s Lydia Dant, had to settle for third place in the women’s event after German Anne Haug dominated the race from the beginning. Haug finished the race in 9:6:40.
