Tourists themselves may be unhappy with the overcrowding that some Lanzarote attractions suffer, according to a recent report by Gesplan.
A report by Gesplan, commissioned by the Cabildo claims that overcrowding causes “the loss of psychological comfort” among tourists.
For example, 68% of visitors to the Charco de los Clicos at El Golfo felt that this space was overcrowded during their visit in summer.
Meanwhile, 47% also felt the same about the route to El Volcán del Cuervo.
The report also shows the effect of location, with attractions reachable by short walks from main roads more popular than longer routes. Mode of transport can also cause problems, with coaches that carry an average of 60 passengers contributing most to overcrowding at certain destinations, while smaller vehicles are more responsible for parking problems in others.
