Council to claim against firebug

Arrecife’s court will permit the city’s council to act as a plaintiff against the firebug who deliberately set fire to several rubbish containers earlier this year.

The council will claim around €60,000 in damages, and will be just one of 15 plaintiffs, including car and property owners. 

The accused is a 42-year-old man with a previous police record who is currently in provisional custody awaiting trial. He is accused of arson involving at least 14 rubbish containers, with associated damages to vehicles, buildings and gardens.
