The second season of AppleTV’s science-fiction series “Foundation” began filming parts of its first season on Lanzarote in 2020, and again for season 2 in 2022. See what was filmed at Manrique’s Cactus Garden.

In February last year, the second season of “Foundation” began filming on Lanzarote and closed the Mirador del Rio and Cactus Garden for a few days while they were shooting.

The new series chose the Canary Islands in its list of filming locations for the first season and returned to Lanzarote 2 years ago to start filming of the second season.

“Foundation” is based on a series of novels by the great science fiction author Isaac Asimov, and starts British actors Jared Harris, Lee Llobell and Leah Harvey.

Lanzarote was chosen as the filming location for all the scenes that take place on the planet Siwenna. The shooting at the Cactus Garden involved 200 extras and lasted four days.

Both seasons of Foundation can be watched on AppleTV’s streaming service.
