A recent survey by the Canarian Institute of Statistics shows that British tourists account for almost half of tourist spending on Lanzarote, but that individually they spend less than Scandinavian, Dutch and German visitors.
Almost €1.7 billion of the €3.5 billion spent on the island in 2023 came from British tourists. These figures reflect the dominance of the UK market on Lanzarote, where British tourists have accounted for more than 50% of arrivals for several years.
Breaking down the figures, the survey discovered that the biggest spenders were Scandinavians, with an average holiday spend of €1,300. They were followed by the Dutch (€1,257) and the Germans (€1.150). The British average spend was €1,100.
Tourist spending figures include the costs of flights and accommodation as well as money spent on food, drink, travel, and general spending.
