Lanzarote received 271,931 tourists in January 2024, an 11% increase on last year and an all-time record for the first month of the year.
The figures mirrored overall Canarian figures, which were also January records, up 10% on last year.
The Lanzarote Data Centre reports that the island made just over €2 billion in January, the second-highest amount on record after last December.
Tourist spending in the Canaries has also increased year-on-year, with a 8.4% increase on last January. Every tourist who arrived on the islands in January spent an average of €177 a day, including transport and accommodation. However, the average length of stay has decreased slightly, falling to 8.6 days.
