Canarian President Fernando Clavijo has stated that he hopes to alleviate the housing crisis on Lanzarote with the new public housing projects that are expected to be built in the coming years.

Clavijo claimed the regional government is working on five projects for the construction of more than 400 new homes on the island, to help deal with the 1,852 people on the island who are registered as Housing Seeker.

The President also highlighted the positive effect he believed that the new Housing law will have on the construction of properties by the private sector.

The Canarian Minister of Public Works added that 373 of the 400 homes are already in different phases of execution or bidding., stressing that they are the first developments to be built on this island for several years.

134 homes are expected to be ready by 2025.
