Raquel Welch, the 60s and 70s sex symbol who was defined by the iconic photographs taken on Lanzarote, has died at the age of 82.
Welch’s appearance in the film 1,000,000 Years BC, in which she was kidnapped by a pterodactyl at El Golfo and chased by a giant turtle at Papagayo, shot her to stardom. The image of her wearing a fur bikini became world famous and famously featured as the poster that concealed the tunnel in the film The Shawshank Redemption.
We’ll post a more in-depth tribute tomorrow.
