8 | Gazette Life | December 2025ISLAND INFOOpen Church by Candlelight will take place once again on Christmas Eve (24th December) at the church of Nuestra Se%u00f1ora de Lourdes in Puerto del Carmen's old town. From 7.30pm until 11pm there'll be music and candles in the otherwise dark Church. It's an open, welcoming space for everyone, with no service. Everyone who arrives will be given a tea light to add to the light that shines through the longest night. Last year, around 150 people turned up for this informal but moving event.RANCHO TEXAS SUPPORT CALOR Y CAF%u00c9 This year, Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park will once more support Arrecife's homeless charity Calor y Caf%u00e9, helping the most disadvantaged people. On the weekends of the 13th14th and 20th-21st of December, between 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., a collection point for people's donations will be installed in the theme park's parking lot. Those who bring at least 12 kilos of food will receive a free invitation to the park! Water is also welcome but will not be included as kilos. In addition to non-perishable food; toys, clothing and personal hygiene products can also be donated.OPEN CHURCH IN PUERTO DEL CARMENCARNIVAL DATESDetails are coming together for next year's carnival season, which will begin in February 2026. The first and biggest of the parades will be in Arrecife on Mon 16th February, and the theme will be %u201cKids%u2019 TV of the 80s and 90s%u201d. This will be followed by the parade in San Bartolom%u00e9 on Tuesday 17th. On the 18th will be the unforgettable Burial of the Sardine, again in Arrecife. On Saturday 21st February, Puerto del Carmen's fantastic parade will head along the strip, with a 1920s theme. Over the following weekends, Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca, Har%u00eda, Tinajo and La Graciosa will also celebrate their parades. We'll print further details as those dates are confirmed.
