The gates that prevent access to the cave were also vandalised.The new signs remind visitors that unauthorised access is forbidden and informs them about the limits on drone use and the consequences of straying from the footpath.Cabildo Environment Councillor Samuel Mart%u00edn said %u201cThis strategy goes beyond signage, now we have the tools to monitor, inform and act more effectively in the protection of the environment%u201d.Lanzarote%u2019s Cabildo has reminded the island%u2019s seven councils that tourist excursions in quads and buggies are prohibited on rural land.The Cabildo has urged the Ayuntamientos to act on the issue as it claims the noise and dust generated by this kind of tourism can seriously damage the natural environment of the island.Councillor for Territorial Policy, Jes%u00fas Mach%u00edn Tav%u00edo, commented %u201cNo official network of routes has been approved for this type of activity, and until then, convoys of vehicles driving through the natural environment are prohibited%u201d.Mach%u00edn added %u201cThis is not about banning tourist activity, but about ordering and regulating it so that it does not cause irreversible damage to our territory. You can drive on tarmac, but not on other paths and roads, which these vehicles destroy.%u201dBUGGY WARNINGTANKER ACCIDENTA tanker toppled down a cliffside at Playa de Papagayo last month, causing the beach to be closed off for a whole weekend.The tanker was apparently on its way to drain sewage from the restaurant that sits on the headland between Playa de la Cera and Playa Papagayo when it fell down the cliff on Thursday 10th July.
