A 70-year-old man drowned yesterday at Playa de los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen.

The incident occurred in the early afternoon, when a woman informed lifesavers that she could not find her husband, who had entered the sea for a swim.

A search was launched and an emergency helicopter was called to assist. Eventually, the lifeless body of the man was located at sea, and was retrieved by firefighters from Lanzarote’s Emergency Consortium.
