A homeowner in Costa Teguise recently contacted Leakbusters after receiving a water bill that didn’t make sense.

Nothing in the house had changed.

No dripping taps.
No obvious damp patches.
No visible water anywhere.

But the bill had nearly doubled.

The first thing we did was carry out a leak confirmation test — checking taps, toilets and the water meter.

The meter kept moving.

That meant one thing: there was a hidden leak somewhere in the system.

The challenge with many Lanzarote properties is that pipework runs under tiled floors, inside walls and underground, so leaks often can’t be seen.

Instead of guessing and breaking tiles, we carried out a professional leak detection survey.

Using specialist equipment including pressure testing and acoustic listening equipment, we were able to narrow the problem down quickly.

The leak was eventually located beneath the floor near the kitchen pipework — something the homeowner would never have been able to find without detection equipment.

Once the location was confirmed, the repair could be carried out exactly where needed, avoiding unnecessary disruption to the property.

And the best part?

A full Leakbusters leak detection survey costs €199.

Not because we cut corners — but because we believe finding leaks should be accessible before they turn into much bigger problems.

Many leaks start small but can waste thousands of litres of water if left unchecked.

If your water bill has suddenly increased, your meter keeps moving, or you simply suspect a leak somewhere in your property, it’s always worth getting it checked properly.

Don’t guess.
