Today’s yellow alert for heat has been upgraded to orange for most of the day. The orange alert is in place from 11 am to 8 pm, when it will revert to yellow. The yellow heat alert has also been extended until midnight tomorrow (Saturday 20th) , along with the yellow warning for calima conditions (dust in the air).
AEMET predicts temperatures that could exceed 37 degrees Celsius on Lanzarote today. Tomorrow, temperatures will be around 34 degrees.
Orange is the second-highest state of alert and warns of significant risk from weather conditions. Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, for example, cancelling events in the open air, remaining in cool, shady places and staying hydrated. It is also important to keep an eye on vulnerable people, such as infants, the elderly, pregnant women, diabetics, the obese, etc.
