The director of state administration on Lanzarote, Pedro Viera, has told Lancelot TV that “Lanzarote’s crime figures are lower than the Canarian and the Spanish average.
Viera said that the crime rate on the island was 44 crimes per 1,000 inhabitants, lower than the Canarian average of 48 and the national Spanish figure of 50.2. “Lanzarote is a safe island and those are the facts we have to sell abroad, not the opposite,” he declared.
Viera also claimed that the National Police station in Arrecife had an 80% rate of resolving complaints, and that “no other station on the islands can make such a claim.”
