The Airbnb boom appears to be coming to an end for Canarian home owners, as various estate agents report that landlords are beginning to return to seeking long-term residential clients.
Tourist numbers have fallen over the last year, and this has reduced the demand for holiday accommodation that has seen owners focusing on holiday rentals and shunning long-term lets. Canarias7 newspaper reports that estate agents in Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are reporting that 20-25% of rental owners have returned to residential renting.
Sources in Lanzarote said “A year ago there was nothing available for long-term lets. Now, it’s possible to find properties, although prices remain high. The trend is most noticeable in non-tourist areas such as Arrecife, Tías and San Bartolomé.”
