The Rojillos (Reds) have had a difficult start to the season. They have only lost on three occasions, which only the top two clubs can better, but the problem has been that they have drawn 10 of the 16 games played.

This leaves UD Lanzarote in 13th spot, seven points from the relegation positions but a whopping 12 points adrift of the playoffs for promotion to Segunda B (Third Tier).

In their last home match against eighth- placed side CF Unión Viera they raced into a wonderful 3-0 halftime lead. Leaking a goal on the hour mark, nerves soon set in and the Gran Canarian side who had won five and drawn one of their last six matches fought back and won a point in a 3-3 draw.

The good news is that, even though things are not running smoothly, the fans have seen their side play with 100% commitment and the players are determined to get things right.

For some time now the club has had an issue with the uneven playing surface on the astroturf. Following several injuries to our players and opponents, the club is seeking authorisation to play their home matches in the stadium in Tías until the Arrecife Town Hall finds a solution to this problem.

At this moment, the approval has not been received so, for future home matches please check on the website or Facebook (details below) for confirmation of venue.

If Lanzarote do play in Tías it won’t be the first time. They did so with excellent results in 2003 and also seven years ago, when the pitch surface was re-laid in Arrecife.

The ground can hold over 2,000 and with a home gate in Arrecife on a good day being around 800, this smaller stadium will give a great atmosphere. As always, just pay at the gate on the day.

The management and players are so grateful for the support the club receives from foreign fans. In spite of not getting the results that they would have hoped for, holidaymakers and expats are coming to matches in bigger numbers. The club applauds you.
