Instead of the frantic consumerism that can be found elsewhere, Lanzarote%u2019s festive season offers a more relaxed, reflective approach, when people give thanks for their good fortune and spare a thought for those who aren%u2019t so lucky. Plenty of residents feel the need to give something back to the island they love, and every single charitable organisation on the island is more than willing to accept a helping hand, whether it is donations, volunteering or simply spreading the word. If you%u2019re thinking of giving this Christmas, whether it%u2019s time, money, support or just a toy or a tin of food, the following list will give you some ideas of who to contact. Similarly, if you need help, hopefully you%u2019ll find some pointers. Charity organisations can be divided into three categories: those that tackle social issues; those that seek to support individuals and families with particular health or disability issues; and animal charities.
